I’ve been camping at Possum Kingdom for over 30 years. I love this State Park. It has nice access to the shore line. Staff is always accommodating and friendly. Camping spots are well kept and most are fairly private. I’ve caught catfish and perch from the fishing dock. The last catfish I caught was, eating size. the little store they have is very convenient for things you may have forgotten. The closest store is quite a ways away. This is one of my favorite state parks to camp in.

Nice place to camp and swim. Especially on the side of the park with the swimming area and camp store. The other side is nice too but some of the sites you need to check the photos to be sure your RV will fit. Some are really narrow or short or have some potential obstructions for large RVs. I'm surprised there are not more hiking trails for a park this size. Only 1 main trail, decent view. The on-site store and grill has decent hamburgers, chicken, and ice cream and necessities.

Nice park with plenty of open areas and well spaced cabins. Nice store with great hamburgers. Park in general needs a little face lift as some spots are tired. Good areas to fish and kayak but hiking trails are somewhat limited. Definitely a lake park with beautiful views. Huge deer population in the area. Restrooms need a little work.

We are not from TX, so making our way around to the nearby parks and lakes, we decided to drive to PK and take the dogs for a hike. Apparently, all TX Parks charge to get in, this one was $4 per person. If you frequent TX Parks you can get a TX park pass which might be cheaper in the long run. We were given a map and told that the park store/Cafe had a very good hamburger and patty melt which turned out to be true. It was typical TX hot so we stuck to the 1.5 mile trail that went along the water's edge so the dogs could stop and drink if needed. It was not crowded at all, in fact we saw only a handful of people. Somewhere swimming and some were picnicking at the Shaded picnic table area. The trail was part challenging and part easy and had a couple of water access points. The bathrooms next to the camp store were not open (under renovation) & porta- potties were available. The water was clearer than most lakes in TX we have been to. Overall, it's a nice park, but like other TX Parks we have visited, it's just not quite as well equipped as parks in TN and AL. We will go back and visit other areas of the PK Lake after it cools down.

Nice location for camping with cabins available. Great for families. Has short hiking trails ( a bit on the rocky side though).

We've been to Possum Kingdom Lake twice now. We've enjoyed the tent camping and easy access to drop our kayaks in the water. The store has everything you could have forgotten to bring with you, plus pretty good grill food and bluebell ice cream!!

we decided to visit this park this summer for the first time. Although the natural views are very beautiful, the details for camping in the park are disappointing. Campsite are worn down so it’s hard to walk in the campsite place. the bathroom was deplorable. They’re broken and flooded and steamy hot.
The park store seems very well stock so if you need anything in emergency, you’re gonna find it there if you get there earlier than the crowd. although there’s no camping without ants insects and flies, the flies problem in the camping sites is big. Even though there’s no food around the flies will not go away leg.
