South Suburban Sports Complex: A Dad’s Paradise for Raising Future Champions

As a sports-loving dad, finding a facility that caters to both my son’s growing passion for soccer and my own enthusiasm for athletics is no easy task. But South Suburban Sports Complex? It’s a slam dunk—or should I say, a goal?

The place is top-notch. From the moment we pull up to those immaculate fields, my son’s face lights up, and honestly, so does mine. Whether it’s a chilly morning practice or a late evening game, the facilities are clean, well-lit, and always ready for action. The turf here? Pristine. It’s like they’ve found the perfect balance between professional-level quality and a family-friendly environment.

What I appreciate most is how well-organized everything is. The staff keep the place running like a well-oiled machine. There’s always someone on hand to answer questions, direct you to the right field, or offer a kind word to a kid who just gave it his all.

And for us dads, there’s plenty to love. Watching my son hustle and score on these fields is pure joy, but I also like how the facility keeps parents in mind—ample seating, warm indoor spaces for cold days, and even a snack bar when you need to fuel up for the cheering section.

South Suburban isn’t just a sports complex; it’s a hub for families, dreams, and memories. My son’s soccer skills are sharpening with every practice, and I’m soaking in every moment of it. If you’re a parent of an aspiring athlete, you won’t find a better spot than this.

Nice facility, love the bar! Nothing quite like having a beer while watching your kid play hockey. 3 sheets of ice, rink 1 & 2 are best for spectators. Rink 3 has no seating, I was a bit surprised they scheduled a high school game on rink 3 and had a youth team practicing on rink 1.

Our favorite facility for our kid's hockey games! The only thing I wish was different is that there definitely needs to be more obvious signs for the "loading/unloading only" loop at the entrance. People just park there, oblivious, and just wait. As bad as it has been lately, I wouldn't be opposed to someone out there telling people they need to go park until their party is ready for pickup so others can actually move through the loop for drop off/pickup as its intended. I watch at least 3x a week people having to attempt backing up in the loop to get around some person just sitting there on their cell phone in their car. It's super rude. It would be 5 stars otherwise! 😊

Update 3/2021: Restaurant is open and so is the seating area in between rink 1 & 2.

This place is a HUGE sports complex with 3 sheets of ice, skate shop, 2 turf fields, and 2 gym courts. Still under construction are the gym, restaurant & bar, and seating areas that over look ice rinks. There are plenty of party rooms for future use too. Only downside is that access to ice rinks is downstairs, so hockey players have to carry their bags or wait for the small elevator. Can’t wait for the entire facility to open and restrictions to be lifted for the complete use of this facility.

Such a fun place! I had my birthday party here (apparently the first ever adult party) and I would highly recommend renting out a rink to your party! We loved it. It was freshly zamboni'd and they brought out the walkers as we are all 30+ years old who need help to balance. But it was a blast. They turned up the music, turned down the lights, everything was alright (iykyk)

There was a fun disco ball of lights, the staff was so friendly and helpful. There's a full bar upstairs and a full food menu. The fries were so good. They decorated the room with tablecloth, balloons, plates and utensils. They even gave us a cutter for the cake. We had full access to rental equipment and the rink for our time slot, too.

Very easy to find and park at the complex. Jay and Maria were wonderful at setting up and planning the party. Thank you guys for a wonderful event.

This building is massive! We were there for 7th grade basketball, but we had some time to watch some hockey also. It's clean, modern, and well maintained. It's cool that it has a bar and concessions also.

I rent skates when I go ice skating and the ones here were too dull to use -- I tried three pairs before giving up. The staff were pleasant enough and refunded my money, but the hour-long round trip here was a waste.
