Scott was a tremendous help today! I bought a pair of riedell ember casual skates online and they felt too small, mostly my toes felt squished from the sides. He sized me and suggested that I bake the skates and possibly stretch the toe box if needed. We did both and they felt way better after. He also let me know that they could order in skates that they don't carry in store. He got my skates sharpened and I'm ready for the ice this weekend! I highly suggest stopping here for your ice skating needs, they're very knowledgeable and experienced.

I can not say enough about Dave’s Sport Shop!! They’re friendly, efficient, reasonably priced, and have impressive attention to detail. I had a custom design made by my graphic designer sister that I wanted to print on sweatshirts with short notice (less than a week) for a bachelorette party, and Dave’s was the first print shop I found on Google so I called and they reassured me they could get them done in time. I went in the same day and they helped me try on different sweatshirts/sizes to choose the right ones and then get the design layout just right. They mixed the exact paint shades from the original design and even noticed a mistake I had made in sending the design over, then called me to make sure it got printed right. They were highly communicative, super helpful, and extraordinarily friendly throughout the process! The sweatshirts turned out awesome and I can’t wait for the next time I need to have something printed so that I can go back 🙂

Had a really great experience at Dave’s this week. The guys there helped me get all the right hockey equipment for my kids and I stayed within my budget! They also did a great job on the team jerseys for our hockey team. Highly recommended!!!

Staff was SO helpful! Talked through my issue with my hockey skates (where I had purchased somewhere else). Not pushy and gave lots of helpful advice with multiple options. Outstanding customer service! Very knowledgeable!

I have been going to Dave’s sports shop for over 30 years and have always received excellent service
I stopped in for a skate sharpening after having not been in for a couple years and received quick service . Had Great conversation with Store staff, and the manager Tony, and was happy with the price.
Daves has always been my go to for hockey equipment and skate sharpening and has long been known for quality and service in the hockey community.

The shop itself could use some updating. That said, I had to give 5 stars due to the level of service I received from Tony! He is super knowledgeable and had so much patience with me. He gave me a fair deal for my trade-in and set me up with skates that were a much better fit for me. I'm self-aware enough to know I am particular and not always the easiest customer, so kudos to him for truly making it an easy and enjoyable process. I will only shop at Dave's and work Tony going forward!

Figure skater here. Came here looking for Scott. FYI Scott is the ONLY person here who has the knowledge to handle figure skates. Others at my rink had their toe pick sharpened OFF because Scott was not the one to sharpen the skates.
I called in advance to confirm Scott would be there, showed up looking for Scott and was told he would be right out. I was okay with waiting.
A guy with tattoos came out asking if he could help. I replied “I’m looking for Scott” he insisted to see what he could help with. I was VERY weary to let him help me because my home rink recommends this skate shop, but they are very clear to confirm Scott is the only one to touch our skates. My own mom also told me her own horror story about a guy with many tattoos being very persistent about purchasing Jackson’s when she repeatedly told him she wants riedell. She told me stay clear of him because of rude and how big his ego is. I SEE IT NOW.
I explained my issues and he made me feel stupid for not immediately knowing the answer to my problem. Saying things like “it’s obvious there is a rocker” (AFTER I told him I believed there was a rocker)
Finally Scott comes out and tells the guy he will handle it from there. But tattoo guy must still be apart of the transaction (per his request of course). Tattoo guy goes on about my blades and how they are a lot of work and I need new ones, all because my blades don’t fit in gaurds and their machine can’t sharpen them (I was NOT mad about any of this fyi…but he seemed very upset by this) . Tattoo man continues to go on and starts cussing and honestly making me feel so uncomfortable that I was ready to leave.

At this point I am tuning him out because it’s clear he has no true knowledge of figure skates.
Moral of the story everyone here is so kind, helpful and Scott is the only one I would trust for advice when it comes to figure skates. I understand figure skates is foreign knowledge to most but Scott is really the only one with any knowledge about them. Scott and the other staff is the only reason I have given this place two stars. But tattoo man ruined my experience and made me feel so belittled.

EDIT after talking with more skaters from my team. I am not the only one to have a poor and uncomfortable encounter with tattoo guy. Please steer clear of him.

Great help always available and great selection of new and used skates (figure and hockey). Bonus tip: skate sharpening only $5 on Tuesdays! Only at select locations, for sure at Fridley store on E Moore Lake Dr. Skate sharpening desk is through the main entrance and to the far back right. There's a special desk/employee that does the sharpening.
